WEAVERVILLE, CA — The Trinity County Sheriff’s Office has arrested a suspect following a homicide investigation on Bear Creek Road. On the morning of March 3, 2026, deputies received a tip from an out-of-state source regarding a possible death that had occurred several days earlier.
After obtaining a search warrant, deputies arrived at the Weaverville property later that day. Authorities encountered Kevin Jackson, 54, who was armed with a loaded firearm. According to officials, Jackson was initially uncooperative, leading to a brief physical struggle before he was detained. Law enforcement confirmed that no shots were fired during the encounter.
During the subsequent interview, investigators report that Jackson admitted to shooting his brother, Darren Jackson, with the firearm in his possession. He directed deputies to a compost pile on the property, where human remains were recovered. Additionally, officials located several deceased puppies on the site; Jackson reportedly admitted to killing the animals.
Jackson was booked into the Trinity County Sheriff’s Office jail on charges of first-degree murder, animal cruelty, and being a felon in possession of a firearm and ammunition.
