Man Allegedly Kidnaps an Oakland Woman and Sexually Assaults Her in Berkeley

BERKELEY, CA — A man was arrested for allegedly kidnapping a woman from Oakland and
sexually assaulting her in Berkeley.

Jorge Molina-Rodriguez, 40 of Hayward, was taken into custody by Berkeley police in the predawn hours of March 30.

A police dispatcher first received a report that an intruder inside a residence a few blocks
west of downtown Berkeley. Officers responded to an apartment situated on the 2300 block of
McKinley Avenue.

Neighbors reportedly heard women screaming there. Upon arrival police found a woman in
her 20s who had phoned 911 for help, and her elderly homebound woman roommate in her
60s.

Officers also found a third woman in her 50s. The third woman told the police that she was
taken there involuntarily, by the man who was inside the apartment.

The suspect allegedly kidnapped and sexually assaulted this woman who later was transported to a nearby hospital
for evaluation.

Officers placed Molina-Rodriguez under arrest at 3:45 a.m. He was booked at Berkeley City
Jail at 6:29 a.m. on suspicion of the following felony charges –
· Assault with intent to commit rape PC 220 (A)
· Kidnapping PC 207(A)
· Kidnapping to commit rape PC 209 (B)
· Forcible rape PC 261(A)
· Burglary PC 459
· Stalking PC 646.9 (A)

Molina-Rodriguez remains in custody ineligible for release on bond, pending arraignment
scheduled for April 2.

In addition, Molina-Rodriguez allegedly took financial advantage of the elderly roommate who
lived at the apartment. Evidently, he periodically stayed at the apartment, before the
homebound elderly woman took on a new roommate in her 20s, who reported him as an
intruder.
