Gunman in Hospital After Shooting at Deputies & PG&E Crewmember in Camino
CAMINO, CA — On March 12, a suspect, later identified as Steven Carter, 66, of Camino reportedly shot a PG&E crew member and two deputies.
Around 7:25 a.m., on March 12, the El Dorado County Sheriff’s responded to a residence in the 700 block of Mountain View Drive in Camino for a report of shots fired.
“A PG&E crew reported that they were shot at, with one employee injured. While EDSO was at the scene, an Officer Involved Shooting (OIS) occurred. Two deputies and the suspect were shot. They were all transported by medics to area hospitals.
Both of the injured deputies were transported to a hospital by ambulance and are in stable condition. The suspect was flown by air ambulance and is also receiving medical treatment at a regional hospital.
The deputies who were injured in the line of duty are identified as Deputy J. Stillman and Deputy C. Reimche. They are currently still in the hospital recovering but are in good spirits despite their injuries, and both are extremely thankful for the outpouring of support from the community.
