Rideshare Driver Accused of Sexually Assaulting Intoxicated Passenger May Have Other Victims, Authorities Say

COSTA MESA, CA — Investigators are looking to identify potential additional victims of a rideshare driver accused of sexually assaulting an intoxicated passenger in late February.

In a press release, the Costa Mesa Police Department reported that they had arrested 43-year-old Felipe Rico-Ceballos, of Ontario, in connection with the assault, which allegedly occurred on Friday, Feb. 27.

Rico-Ceballos is accused of offering a ride to an intoxicated woman, only to allegedly drive her to a different location — on the 2100 block of Newport Boulevard — and sexually assault her.

He then allegedly dropped her off at a third location, police said.

On Thursday, Mar. 5, officers located and arrested Rico-Cabellos on multiple counts of sexual assault and kidnapping. The Orange County District Attorney’s Office has since filed formal charges.

Authorities have reportedly confirmed Rico-Cabellos’s employment as a rideshare driver and, as such, are seeking to identify any potential additional victims. Anyone with information relevant to the case is encouraged to contact Detective E. Peralta at 714-754-5039 or Sergeant J. Jacobi at 714-754-5352.
