Two Arrested After Redding Police Allegedly Find Stolen Mail in Vehicle

REDDING, CA — “On Monday, February 23, 2026, at approximately 11:06 p.m., Redding Police Officers responded to a report of suspected theft from a cluster mailbox in the Kingsview Court area of Redding. A concerned citizen observed suspicious activity at the box and provided a description of a suspect vehicle.

Officers located a vehicle matching that description and initiated a traffic stop. The vehicle was occupied by Gina Pinney, 32, of Redding, and Lisa Larkins, 47, of Redding. During the stop officers observed drug paraphernalia in plain view, and a records check revealed Larkins had an active felony warrant. While taking Larkins into custody, officers observed stolen mail in plain view.

A subsequent search of the vehicle revealed stolen mail taken from three separate cluster mailboxes within the City of Redding, as well as mail belonging to victims in the Lakehead and Palo Cedro areas of Shasta County. Pinney and Larkins were arrested on theft-related charges and booked into the Shasta County Jail. Officers have identified more than 20 victims in connection with these thefts.

The Redding Police Department reminds residents to collect mail promptly and empty mailboxes daily. Mail theft increases during tax season due to the volume of tax returns and related documents sent via U.S. mail; taking precautions can reduce the risk of theft.”
