“On Sunday, September 19, 2021 at 7:23 P.M., officers were dispatched to the report of a road rage incident in the area of Victor Avenue and Marlene Avenue. Through the investigation, officers learned Elijah Richards, 21 years of Redding, left the Lowe’s Home Improvement parking lot in his 2010 Dodge Caliber and recklessly followed another vehicle while screaming obscenities at the vehicle’s occupants.

The driver of other involved vehicle pulled over to the side of the road in the area of Victor Avenue and Marlene Avenue to avoid Richards. Richards then intentionally drove his vehicle into the victim vehicle, causing minor damage. None of the involved parties suffered injuries from the assault.

Officers conducted a D.U.I. investigation and determined Richards was driving while heavily intoxicated. He was arrested for driving while under the influence of alcohol, driving on a suspended license and assault with a deadly weapon.

While Richards was being booked into the Shasta County Jail, he resisted officers and threatened to harm officers and their families. Richards now faces additional charges of resisting arrest and threatening an executive officer.”
