A Shasta County man was recently arrested after reportedly trying to evade police on his motorcycle.

On the night of June 2, police began pursuing a motorcyclist driving recklessly in the area of SR-273 and Happy Valley Road.

The motorcyclist, later identified as 22-year-old Blake Mize, led Redding PD and CHP officers on a pursuit until a CHP helicopter took over, allowing ground units to disengage, police said.

The helicopter followed Mize until he exited at Highway 44 and abandoned the motorcycle near Redding Civic Auditorium, fleeing on foot from there, police said.

Redding PD officers quickly converged on the area and apprehended Mize after a short foot pursuit.

Mize was booked at the Shasta County Jail on several charges, including reckless driving, evading with wanton disregard for public safety, and resisting arrest.
