Redding Man Accused of Driving Drunk and Intentionally Striking Multiple Pedestrians

REDDING, CA — “On February 8, 2026, at about 3:00 p.m., Redding Police Department officers responded to a residential neighborhood on Reservoir Lane in Redding following reports that a vehicle had intentionally struck multiple pedestrians.

Officers arrived and located several victims, two of whom were lying on the ground with visible injuries. Officers had responded to the same area earlier for a reported verbal disturbance involving the same parties.

Five victims and multiple witnesses reported that a disgruntled male, later identified as Jesse Eneix, 43 years of Redding, made verbal threats toward one victim. Shortly after, witnesses observed Eneix driving a vehicle directly toward the group at a high rate of speed.

One victim warned others, allowing several people to move out of the way. Eneix narrowly missed multiple individuals, struck two victims, and grazed a third before fleeing the area.

A nearby resident provided surveillance video that corroborated witness statements and showed Eneix intentionally driving into the group in a manner likely to cause death or serious bodily injury.

Officers located the suspect vehicle and conducted a traffic stop as it attempted to leave the area. Eneix was detained and evaluated by officers, who determined he was under the influence of alcohol and or drugs.

Enix was arrested and booked into the Shasta County Jail on charges of 5 counts of assault with a deadly weapon and driving under the influence.”
