Stockton Family Reportedly Pleads Guilty in Heroin Trafficking Case
YUBA COUNTY, CA — JANUARY 28TH 2026
“A multi-agency investigation led by the Yuba County Sheriff’s Office and the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) has resulted in guilty pleas from three Stockton residents involved in a heroin trafficking operation that supplied drugs throughout Northern California, including the Yuba-Sutter region.
The investigation, that began in September 2022, focused on Alberto Ojeda Lopez, 69, his wife, Maria Medina Silvas, 66, and their daughter, Alecsa Ojeda de Oregel, 44. With assistance from Homeland Security Investigations and IRS Criminal Investigation, agents identified the family as key participants in a drug distribution network operating out of their Stockton home.
During the investigation, undercover officers conducted multiple controlled purchases of heroin from members of the Ojeda family. On August 29, 2023, investigators served a search warrant at the residence, which was being used as both a drug storage location and a stash house for proceeds from drug sales.
By the conclusion of the case, agents had seized approximately 21 pounds of heroin, 2.8 kilograms of fentanyl, nearly half a kilogram of methamphetamine, and $83,119 in cash believed to be proceeds from drug trafficking.
In September 2024, Ojeda Lopez pleaded guilty to conspiracy to distribute heroin. Earlier this month, Medina Silvas and Ojeda de Oregel also pleaded guilty to the same charge. All three are scheduled to be sentenced in the coming months and face a maximum statutory penalty of life in prison. Final sentencing will be determined by the court in accordance with federal sentencing guidelines.”
