Roseville Theft Suspect Outrun by Marathon-Running Officer

ROSEVILLE, CA  — “On February 2, officers responded to a theft from a business on Fairway Drive. With help from our Real Time Crime Center, the suspect vehicle was quickly located and stopped on Riverside Avenue.

The driver stopped.

The passenger ran.

Unfortunately for him, he chose to race Officer Eriksen, an avid runner who averaged a 7:23 mile pace during her last marathon.

The foot pursuit lasted a whopping 300 yards before the suspect, ran out of gas, tripped, and was taken into custody.

Elijah Crout, 39, of Sacramento, was booked into the South Placer County Jail for P.C. 484(A) petty theft, P.C. 69(a) resisting arrest, H.S. 11377(a) possession of a controlled substance, and H.S. 11364(a) possession of drug paraphernalia.”

Moral of the story: If you run from Officer Eriksen you’ll only go to jail tired!”
