K-9 Hitch and his handler were called to the scene to assist with the investigation. The canine performed an exterior sniff of the vehicle and provided a positive alert for the presence of a controlled substance. During the subsequent contact, deputies determined that the driver was operating the vehicle with a suspended license and was in violation of a requirement to have an ignition interlock device installed.

A probable cause search of the vehicle was performed, resulting in the discovery of approximately 38 grams of suspected methamphetamine. Deputies also located a digital scale, drug paraphernalia, and other items described as consistent with the sale of narcotics. A records check further indicated that the driver had prior related convictions.

The driver was taken into custody and booked into the Sutter County Jail. Charges include narcotics possession for sale, transportation of a controlled substance, and driving on a suspended license, as well as failure to comply with ignition interlock device requirements. The operation involved B-Night deputies, dispatchers, and the K-9 unit.
