Police Investigate Late-Night Shooting on Freedom Boulevard; Teen Injured
SANTA CRUZ, CA — JANUARY 20TH, 2026
“Around 10:43 PM yesterday, Officers responded to reports of shots fired in the 1500 block of Freedom Boulevard. When the Officers arrived at the scene, they found evidence of a shooting but did not find any suspect(s) or victim(s).
Later that evening, Officers were notified that a 17-year-old victim with a gunshot wound had arrived at a local hospital. He is expected to be okay.
This remains an active investigation, and no additional details are available for release at this time. Anyone with information related to this incident is asked to contact Detective Robert Strong at 831-768-3355.”
