Shooting Investigation in Oceanside: Police Seeking Information
OCEANSIDE, CA — “On Monday, January 19, 2026, at approximately 6:55 p.m., Oceanside Police Department officers responded to a report of a gunshot wound involving a male victim.
Officers initially contacted the victim in front of Oceanside High School, where he had driven after being shot. The victim, a 20-year-old male, sustained a non-life-threatening gunshot wound to the shoulder and was transported to a local hospital for treatment.
During the initial investigation, the victim provided information regarding where the shooting occurred, stating it may have happened near the beach. Officers conducted a coordinated search using city cameras and were able to locate a crime scene in the area of Neptune Way and Cleveland Street, where one spent 9mm cartridge casing was recovered. The casing was consistent with the caliber and brand of ammunition located inside the victim’s vehicle. A Glock 17 handgun and several types of ammunition were also found inside the victim’s vehicle.
Once stabilized, the victim provided an updated statement. At this time, the case is still under investigation.
