Sacramento, CA –

Sunday morning just before 11a.m., North Patrol Deputies responded to a residence on Marconi Avenue and arrested a 40-year-old man following a violent barricade incident involving an elderly victim he was caring for.
The suspect, Jesse James Halleib, 49, of Carmichael, had been living in a shed on the victim’s property. Halleib entered the 77-year-old victim’s main residence and threatened to assault her.
When the victim attempted to call 9-1-1, Halleib disconnected the phone while she was actively speaking with our communications center call-taker.
Deputies arrived and initially located Halleib outside the residence; however, he fled back inside the home.
Halleib then forcibly grabbed the victim, moved her outside, locked the door, and barricaded himself inside the residence.
Despite repeated lawful orders to exit and surrender, Halleib refused.
Sheriff’s K9 Niko was deployed and successfully apprehended Halleib. Deputies took him into custody without further incident. Halleib was treated for his injuries at a local hospital before being booked into the Sacramento County Main Jail on charges of kidnapping, elder abuse and resisting arrest.
Halleib is scheduled to appear in court Tuesday.
