Chino Police Investigate Death at Ayala Park Potentially Linked to Simi Valley Homicide
CHINO, CA — December 2nd 2025 — “The Chino Police Department is investigating a possible suicide that occurred Sunday, November 30, 2025, in the parking lot of Ayala Park, located at 14315 Central Avenue.
At approximately 2:31 p.m., officers and the Chino Valley Fire Department responded to reports of a vehicle fire. Upon arrival, officers located a deceased subject lying near a black sedan that was on fire. A firearm was also recovered at the scene.
The identity of the decedent has not yet been confirmed. Identification and official cause of death are pending through the San Bernardino County Coroner’s Office.
Earlier in the day, the Simi Valley Police Department reported a double homicide in their city. Chino Police Department personnel coordinated with the Simi Valley PD Public Information Officer, Detective Sergeant Rick Morton, who confirmed they were investigating the double homicide and sent detectives to Chino to determine whether the two incidents were related.
Based on preliminary information, investigators believe the incidents are likely connected. Official confirmation is pending further investigation and final determination by the Coroner’s Office.
Chino Valley Fire District arson investigators are handling the vehicle fire portion of the case.
Investigators from multiple agencies remained on scene for several hours.
There is no threat to the public, and the scene has been secured.
The investigation remains active and ongoing.
