5 suspects arrested after Rancho Cucamonga sex offender compliance checks

Five men were arrested for violating the terms of their probation or parole after a sex offender compliance operation was conducted by the Rancho Cucamonga Police Department.

Those subject to the compliance checks conducted on March 13th consisted of 158 registered sex offenders and 10 registered arsonists.  Officers checked to verify that sex registrants were still living at their registered addresses, searched the homes “of 24 sex registrants who are currently on active felony probation and/or active parole from the California Department of Corrections (CDC),” and conducted parole searches on “18 subjects who are on active CDC Parole for non sex offense related crimes.”

At the conclusion of the checks, 107 subjects were found to be in compliance, 59 were not at home, and 2 “were out of compliance and had moved from their last registered address. A criminal investigation is being conducted into their current whereabouts.”

The arrested suspects, all residents of Rancho Cucamonga, are Glen Cranford (23 years old), Larry Brennan (52), Anthony Pedregon (28), Miguel Casteneda (30), and Hector Garcia (56).

According to Rancho Cucamonga Detective Donald Patton, Cranford was “found to be actively engaged in a lewd sexual act in public” at the time of his probation search and was subsequently arrested on charges of lewd acts in public and probation violation.

Brennan, Pedregon, and Garcia were arrested for violating the terms of their parole.  Garcia was additionally found to be in possession of ammunition and narcotics.

Casteneda was found to be in possession of an illegal weapon and arrested for probation violation.

All suspects were booked without bail at the West Valley Detention Center.

“The Rancho Cucamonga Police Department will continue to monitor and conduct random compliance checks of all registered sex offenders and arson registrants within the city.”
