Exeter Man Arrested After Multi-Vehicle Pursuit, DUI Crash in Visalia
VISALIA, CA — On Sunday, December 1, 2025, a 21-year-old Exeter man was apprehended by Visalia Police Department officers following a vehicle pursuit that involved multiple collisions.
The incident began just after 5:30 PM when officers assigned to the H.O.P.E. team, who were conducting a retail-theft detail, observed a vehicle swerving in the 2700 block of West Monte Vista Avenue.
The vehicle then struck two parked cars and left the scene without stopping. Officers attempted to conduct a traffic stop, but the driver failed to yield, initiating a pursuit. The chase proceeded to the intersection of Avenue 280 and Road 156, where the suspect allegedly ran a red light and collided with a third vehicle. Following this impact, the driver fled the scene on foot but was quickly located and detained by pursuing officers.
The driver of the vehicle struck at the intersection sustained minor injuries and received treatment at the scene.
The suspect was identified as Robert Cunningham of Exeter. He was subsequently booked into the Pretrial Facility on several charges. These include evading a peace officer CVC 2800.1, hit and run causing injury CVC 20001, driving under the influence causing injury CVC 23153(a), resisting or delaying an officer PC 148(a), possession of a controlled substance HS 11350, and driving on a suspended or revoked license CVC 14601.
