LONDON — London is a small census-designated place in California with a population of about 2,000. Around 9AM on August 21st, TCS Officers responded to reports of shots fired in the area of Avenue 376 and Road 58.

First, deputies found a vehicle with all its windows shattered and several shell casings on the ground. They then spoke to the victim, who reported that someone had berated him with racial slurs and threats.

As he attempted to leave the area, someone allegedly fired shots toward him but, luckily, he escaped without injury. Property Crime Detectives soon took over the case and interviewed several witnesses.

Consequently, authorities named two men as suspects: 32-year old Ronald Allen Patala and 35-year old Lawrence Charles Bierman. Patala is not in custody at this time. Bierman, however, remains at the Bob Wiley Detention Facility in Visalia.

Bierman’s charges are:

  • commission of a hate crime
  • shooting at an inhabited dwelling
  • assault with a deadly weapon
  • criminal threats
  • violating his parole
  • vandalism

The case remains open.
