In the first place, on July 13 detectives went to a home in the 500 block of West Reese.  The tip mentioned “a strong chemical smell coming from the residence.”

Consequently, the homeowners allowed detectives inside, whereupon they discovered a honey oil lab.

Then, the High Impact Investigation Team came and removed the lab.  The suspects operated a drug-selling business out of the home.

The VPD arrested 27-year-old Derrick Gonzales and 28-year-old Kathryn Mansfield. They charged the pair with manufacture of a controlled substance and possession of marijuana with the intent to sell.

In summary, investigators seized 556 grams of concentrated cannabis, 134 pounds of marijuana, 2 firearms and $18,999.
