TULARE – The Tulare SD announced two arrests for a murder that occurred in May.
On May 11 a 25-year-old man was found gunned down and deceased near an orchard on Oakmore and Cartmill in Tulare. Authorities later identified the victim as Woodlake resident Tariq Alsumiri.
The autopsy confirmed Alsumiri died from multiple gunshot wounds to his upper body.
Violent Crimes Unit Detectives have been working diligently to find the suspects responsible for the murder of Alsumiri. Substantial evidence linked two people to this murder – 44-year old Melissa Acuna and 36-year old Kirk Muro.
Consequently, law enforcement arrested Acuna on June 13 in Tulare. They picked up Muro the next day. Then tetectives carried out a search warrant of a Visalia residence on the 1300 North Giddings block.
Both Acuna and Muro remain in custody at the Tulare county Sheriff’s Department Pre-Trial Facility for murder.
