Police Log Notes Multiple DUI Arrests, Road Rage Incident Over 24-Hour Period

CORONADO, CA – Local law enforcement agencies reported a busy 24-hour period, logging multiple incidents including two arrests for driving under the influence (DUI) and a separate arrest related to a road rage incident involving weapons and drug paraphernalia.

The first DUI incident occurred shortly after 6:00 p.m. last night when officers responded to a collision in the 1100 block of Orange Avenue. The report involved an overturned vehicle that had impacted a parked car. The driver, identified as a 75-year-old female solo occupant, was transported to a local hospital for medical evaluation. Investigators determined that the driver had consumed alcohol prior to the collision, resulting in her arrest for DUI. The southbound lanes of Orange Avenue were closed for approximately one hour while the scene was cleared. Authorities confirmed that no other injuries were reported.

Later that evening, just before 8:00 p.m., police made a second DUI arrest following a report from a citizen concerning a male urinating on the sidewalk who subsequently drove away slowly. Officers located and contacted the driver, a 63-year-old man, who was also found to be under the influence and was arrested for DUI.

In a separate incident around 1:00 p.m., officers addressed a road rage incident involving two vehicles. The confrontation began while the vehicles were traveling across the Coronado Bridge and continued through city streets. The driver of a truck reportedly attempted to cause a collision with the second vehicle multiple times and used a public address (PA) system to direct verbal abuse at the other driver. Officers located the suspect vehicle and discovered a concealed butterfly knife on the driver. Two glass pipes commonly used for narcotics consumption were also located in the vehicle. The suspect was arrested on charges including assault with a deadly weapon, possession of a concealed dirk or dagger, and possession of unlawful paraphernalia. The suspect was subsequently booked into San Diego Central Jail, and the vehicle was towed from the scene.
