San Bernardino Man Charged with Murder of Deputy Nunez, Faces Ten Felony Counts

RANCHO CUCAMONGA, CA — The San Bernardino County District Attorney’s Office has filed multiple felony charges against Angelo Jose Saldivar, 47, a resident of San Bernardino, following an incident on October 27, 2025, that resulted in the death of a Sheriff’s Deputy.

The incident began when Deputy Sheriff Andrew Nunez, 28, of the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department, responded to an alleged domestic violence call in Rancho Cucamonga involving Saldivar, his ex-spouse, and several witnesses. Deputy Nunez was shot and killed after arriving first on the scene. The confrontation was followed by a high-speed motorcycle pursuit, which authorities state endangered the lives of motorists until Saldivar was stopped by a legal intervention.

On Monday, November 3, 2025, the District Attorney’s Office officially filed ten counts against the defendant. The primary charge is Count 1, PC187(a)- Murder.

Additional charges filed include Attempted Kidnapping, False Imprisonment by Violence, and Battery on a Spouse. Saldivar also faces four separate counts of Assault with a Semiautomatic Firearm (Counts 3 through 6), Discharge of a Firearm with Gross Negligence, and Evading an Officer.

Prosecutors have further filed special allegations in connection with the charges. These include the use of a firearm in the commission of the assaults. Special allegations filed with the murder charge of Deputy Nunez include murder to avoid arrest, murder of a police officer, and the personal and intentional discharge of a firearm.

Saldivar remains in custody. His arraignment will be scheduled once he is medically cleared for transport. The Sheriff’s Specialized Investigations Division – Homicide Detail has assumed the investigation, which remains ongoing, with the possibility of additional charges being filed.
