BERKELEY, CA – A yearlong investigation culminated in the arrest of Arcturas Wiggins, a 49-year-old car detailer. Wiggins stands accused of attempted robbery of a gas station last November in Berkeley.
Pittsburg police recently arrested Wiggins on an outstanding warrant obtained by Berkeley detectives in February. Wiggins is allegedly the armed suspect, who on November 24, 2024, entered the Chevron gas station at 1399 San Pablo Avenue.
“The suspect threatened the clerk and tried multiple times to get through the protected glass cashier’s area. He used the pass-through drawer to put his hand through—pointing the gun at the clerk and terrifying her.” Berkeley police said in a prepared statement.
Berkeley detectives shared video images of the suspect with law enforcement agencies in the San Francisco Bay area. The images were recorded by cameras at the gas station and street cameras near the scene of the crime.
Wiggins was apprehended in Contra Costa County on October 26 at 2 p.m. “Pittsburg PD arrested Wiggins for his warrant, and also for evading the police and resisting arrest,” Berkeley police said.
Wiggins was transported to Alameda County Santa Rita Jail, where he remains in custody in lieu of $230,000 bond. He was charged on October 28 with attempted robbery and a special allegation for use of a firearm.
Wiggins has a prior conviction for second-degree robbery in 2008, for which he was sentenced to 10 years in state prison. More recently, he was arrested in Marin County in December 2024 for robbery, and carrying a concealed firearm.
