Porterville Police Arrest Adult, Two Juveniles on Attempted Carjacking and Robbery Charges

POTTERVILLE, CA — Porterville Police have arrested three individuals in connection with an attempted carjacking, robbery, and brandishing incident that occurred in August. The event took place on August 29, 2025, at approximately 3:59 a.m. in the 600 block of East Poplar Avenue.

Police officers responded within minutes to the location and contacted the victim and witnesses, all of whom were physically unharmed. The victim reported that she had returned home from work and was unloading her vehicle when three male subjects confronted her. The victim stated that one of the subjects brandished a firearm and demanded her vehicle keys. As the victim attempted to move away, the armed suspect pursued her around the vehicle and tried to forcibly take the keys. The suspect managed to take the victim’s house keys, but the victim, realizing she still held the vehicle’s key fob, activated the panic alarm.

Two passersby heard the alarm, approached the scene, and began shouting at the suspects. The three subjects then fled on foot. During the foot pursuit by one of the passersby, a suspect turned and brandished a handgun at the citizen. Officers were unable to locate the suspects during the initial area search.

Detectives with the Special Investigations Unit assumed the case and identified the suspects as Anthony Aguilar, an 18-year-old Porterville resident, and two 17-year-old juvenile males.

On the morning of October 16, 2025, detectives served a search warrant at the residence of one juvenile suspect, which led to information linking all three individuals to the August incident. The first juvenile suspect was arrested and booked into the Juvenile Detention Facility on charges including Attempted Carjacking, Robbery, and Conspiracy to Commit a Felony.

Later that day, detectives obtained and served a search and arrest warrant for Anthony Aguilar at his residence in the 100 block of East Yates Avenue. Aguilar was arrested without incident and booked at the TCSO South County Detention Facility on a no-bail arrest warrant for Attempted Carjacking, Robbery, Conspiracy to Commit a Felony, and Brandishing.

Detectives located the second juvenile suspect on October 20, 2025, after he arrived at the Tulare County Probation Office in Visalia, where he was detained due to active juvenile probation status. He was subsequently taken into custody by Porterville Detectives and booked at the Juvenile Detention Facility on similar charges.
