HOLLISTER, CA — Local police are investigating a fatal shooting that occurred on Sunnyslope Road over the weekend.
According to a press release by the Hollister Police Department, officers responded to the 1100 block of Sunnyslope Rd. late on the evening of Saturday, Oct. 18, to investigate a report of a shooting involving two vehicles.
As they canvassed the scene, officers received word that a victim connected to the shooting had been admitted to a local hospital. Officials from the San Benito County Sheriff’s Office accompanied Hollister police to obtain a statement from the victim.
The victim was later life-flighted to a neighboring trauma hospital, but ultimately succumbed to their injuries.
The case is now being investigated as a homicide, police said. The victim’s name has not been released.
