CORNING, CA — In the early morning hours of August 25, 2025, a Corning Police Department officer made an arrest following a bike stop near Barham Avenue and Corning Road. At approximately 2:47 a.m., the officer observed a male subject riding a bicycle and identified him as 46-year-old Joseph Eugene Ure of Corning. The officer was aware that Ure had multiple outstanding warrants.
According to the report, the officer contacted Ure and took him into custody. During the encounter, Ure was found to be in possession of a concealed fixed-blade knife, identified as a “dirk” or “dagger.” He was also found carrying fentanyl and methamphetamine. Based on the investigation, Ure was charged with several offenses, including felony possession of narcotics with two or more prior convictions, carrying a concealed dirk or dagger, possession of a controlled substance, and possession of methamphetamine. The outstanding felony and misdemeanor warrants were also included in the charges.
Ure was transported to the Tehama County Jail, where he was booked on the listed offenses. Police noted that there were no reported injuries connected with the arrest, and no property loss was associated with the incident.
The case was investigated by the Corning Police Department and approved by Sergeant E. Curiel. Authorities emphasized that the arrest stemmed from routine patrol activity designed to enforce the law and ensure public safety in the community.
