Suspect Arrested in Connection with Fatal August 21 Shooting in Stockton
STOCKTON, CA — Authorities have arrested a man identified as the primary suspect in the fatal shooting of a woman in late August.
According to a press release by the Stockton Police Department, officers had responded late on the night of Aug. 21 to the 6300 block of N. El Dorado St. to investigate reports of gunfire. At the scene, officers located an adult female victim who’d been shot multiple times.
The victim was taken to an area hospital, where she ultimately succumbed to her injuries, police said.
Homicide detectives have reportedly identified the suspect in the shooting as 23-year-old Walter Burgess, who happened to already be in custody in connection with an unrelated homicide.
Burgess is expected to face new charges in connection with the August 21 homicide. The investigation is active and ongoing, police said.
