Suspect Arrested for Assault – Held in Custody in Lieu of $50,000 Bond

NOVATO,CA — An unemployed resident of Novato, Anthony R. Pacheco, 38, was arrested in connection with an assault that happened on September 3. Pacheco was booked into Marin County Jail, where he remains in custody in lieu of $50,000 bond.
A man and woman were observed fighting that night in Novato, near the intersection of Alameda del Prado and Ignacio Boulevard. A witness intervened at approximately 9 p.m., on behalf of the woman. Then the witness ended up getting into a fight with the suspect.
The suspect identified as Pacheco next allegedly brandished a knife at the man who dared to intervene. Pacheco allegedly fought with the witness who fought back using only his hands.
The witness ended up being stabbed in his hand, suffering a wound described as non-life-threatening. However, the woman was not reported injured during her altercation with the suspect.
When responding Novato officers arrived at the scene, Pacheco fled into a nearby apartment. Following a brief standoff, police placed him under arrest at 9:48 p.m.
Pacheco was booked on the following charges –
· Assault with a deadly weapon/not a firearm or force likely to cause great bodily injury
· Obstructing/resisting an officer
· Violation of probation
Pacheco is no stranger to law enforcement. Pacheco has been arrested multiple times in recent years. Most of his prior arrests involved DUI alcohol/drugs. He was also arrested twice for carrying a dirk or dagger.
