Marina Traffic Stop Leads to Methamphetamine and Firearm Arrests

MARINA, CA  – “On 08/09/2025 at about 0058 hours, a Marina Police Officer initiated a traffic stop on a vehicle in the 3200 block of Dunes Drive for vehicle code violations. As the officer approached the vehicle, in plain view, the officer observed a male passenger holding a plastic baggie of methamphetamine. The driver Jessica Machado and rear passenger Brodie Cook both from Salinas were detained.

Marina PD Officer Parra deployed his trained firearm detection Canine “Riley,” and she alerted to the presence of a firearm inside the vehicle. Additional controlled substances, drug paraphernalia, ammunition and a loaded firearm with an altered serial number were located.

Jessica Machado was charged with possession of controlled substances and possession of drug paraphernalia. Brodie Cook was charged with several firearm violations to include being a felon in possession of a firearm, felon in possession of ammunition and several drug charges. Machado and Cook were booked into Monterey County Jail.
