RAMONA, CA — “A man is in custody on suspicion of threatening someone with a metal pole and robbing him in Ramona.
On Sunday, July 6, just before 8:30 a.m., a resident of Terre at Oak Apartments, located in the 100 block of 14th Street, was taking out the trash when he was approached by a man later identified as Ruben Jimenez Jr. (DOB 04/06/1985). Jimenez brandished a metal pole in a threatening manner and demanded the resident’s wallet. Fearing for his safety, the man gave his wallet to Jimenez, who then fled the scene.
The victim called 9-1-1 and filed a report with the San Diego County Sheriff’s Office.
Later that morning, the victim saw Jimenez in front of Bank of America, located in the 1400 block of Main Street. He immediately notified the Sheriff’s Office of Jimenez’s whereabouts.
Deputies from the Ramona Sheriff’s Substation responded to the scene and took Jimenez into custody. Sheriff’s Detectives responded to assist with the investigation. They served a search warrant at Jimenez’ home and located a vehicle used by Jimenez during the robbery. Detectives also recovered the weapon used in the robbery and the victim’s wallet.
Jimenez was arrested for robbery and resisting arrest. He was booked into the San Diego Central Jail.
