Suspect Arrested in Connection with Fatal Shooting of Fresno Man in Late June

INDIO, CA — Authorities have arrested a suspect in connection with the fatal shooting of Julian Garcia back in late June.

According to the Fresno Police Department, detectives assisted the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department in arresting 41-year-old Raymond Ornelas Torres.

Torres is accused of fatally shooting Garcia, 27, during an argument near Plumas Street and Lorena Avenue on Friday, June 20.

Riverside County deputies pursued leads provided by Fresno PD homicide detectives, leading to the identification of Torres as the primary suspect.

Authorities reportedly located and arrested Torres on the 82000 block of El Paseo Avenue in Indio on Monday, July 14.

After an interview with homicide detectives, Torres was booked at the Robert Presley Detention Center in Riverside and reportedly awaits extradition to Fresno County to face a charge of murder.
