GUADALUPE, CA — July 10, 2025
A father of three, living under the shadow of a felony arrest warrant, was taken into custody on
the night of July 9.
The suspect, later identified as David Urias, 35, barricaded himself inside his apartment with his female partner and
their three children, triggering a tense standoff that lasted more than three hours.
Officers from the Guadalupe Police Department responded to “a report of domestic violence.”
When they arrived and attempted to make contact with the occupants of the reported unit, Urias
“refused to exit the home and wouldn’t allow his partner or their children to leave.”
Once Urias was identified, it was quickly determined that he was the subject of an active felony
no-bail arrest warrant.
Additional resources were called to the scene.
Faced with the overwhelming law enforcement response, after three hours of “negotiations,”
Urias was taken into custody “without further incident.”
Urias was transported to Santa Barbara County Northern Branch Jail on his existing warrant and
is faces additional charges of domestic violence, child endangerment, and resisting arrest.
He remains in custody on a no-bail hold.
