California’s Health and Safety Code prohibits the possession, sale, or use of fireworks not labeled “Safe and Sane.” Violations can result in fines up to $50,000, confiscation, and jail time. Transporting fireworks across state lines without authorization also violates federal law.

Illegal fireworks are a significant fire risk in Inyo County’s dry conditions. We encourage residents to celebrate responsibly by attending professional displays and adhering to local laws.

The Sheriff’s Office thanks the BLM Barstow Office for their partnership in protecting our communities and public lands.”
