Oroville CHP Arrests Man Wanted Out of Sacramento for Alleged Carjacking, Assault

OROVILLE, CA — “Earlier today, a CHP – Oroville area officer stopped a vehicle traveling 85 MPH in a 65 MPH zone on SR-70 near Lower Honcut. After initially yielding near SR-70 and Chandler Road, the driver informed the officer he did not have a valid driver’s license. A record check revealed the individual had an outstanding warrant out of Sacramento County for carjacking, aggravated assault, and possession of a stolen vehicle.
As the officer attempted to detain him and place him in handcuffs, a physical altercation occurred, and the suspect fled on foot into a nearby orchard.
Thanks to the coordinated efforts of our partners at CHP – Yuba-Sutter, the Butte County Sheriff’s Office, and CHP – Valley Division Air Operations, the suspect was later located and taken into custody after a search of the area.
The subject was later booked into Butte County Jail on the outstanding warrant, along with new charges for resisting arrest and escaping lawful detention (PC 148(a)(1) & PC 836.6(b)).”
