Tuolumne County: Reports of Gunfire Result in Two Arrests in Twaine Harte
TWAIN HARTE, CA — “On Wednesday, June 4, 2025, at about 12:45 in the afternoon, deputies responded with emergency lights and sirens to the area of Tanager Drive in Twain Harte for report 38-year-old Cherish Cox of Sacramento, was banging on the door and had a firearm. Before deputies arrived, Cox fled the scene in a vehicle. The investigation revealed Cox had broken a window at the residence. Deputies searched the area but were unable to locate her.
Later that day, at about 9:20 in the evening, deputies again responded to the Tanager Drive area with emergency lights and sirens, following multiple 911 calls reporting a possible drive-by shooting. A witness reported a white pickup truck arrived at a residence, the driver began yelling and fired a gun, followed by continued yelling and additional gunshots heard. A short time later, responding TCSO deputies located a white pickup matching the suspect vehicle description traveling on Longway Road near the Moose Lodge and conducted a high-risk traffic stop. Cox, the sole occupant of the vehicle, was detained in handcuffs. When deputies approached the truck, they located a shotgun in plain view near the center console.
TCSO Investigations Division Detectives were called out to the scene. Through their investigation detectives learned there had been a confrontation between Cox and 42-year-old destiny Kaiser of Modesto. During the confrontation, both women were armed with firearms not registered to them and fired shots negligently within a residential area. Detectives placed both Cox and Kaiser under arrest.
Cox and Kaiser were transported to the Dambacher Detention Center. Cox was booked for felony vandalism, willfully discharging a firearm in a negligent manner, carrying a loaded firearm in a public place, and for being a person prohibited from owning or possessing firearms. Kaiser was booked for willfully discharging a firearm in a negligent manner, carrying a loaded firearm in a public place and carrying a firearm registered to another person while in a public place.
This case remains under investigation and no further details will be released at this time.”
