Trinity County Authorities Investigate THC Lab Explosion and Fire in Junction City
JUNCTION CITY, CA — “On May 28, 2025, at approximately 5:00 a.m., the Trinity County Emergency Dispatch Center received multiple 911 calls regarding explosions and a structure fire in the 300 block of Senger Road in Junction City, California.
Responding fire department personnel reported a fully-engulfed structure fire which had spread to nearby vehicles, buildings and vegetation.
Responders were able to quickly bring the fire under control and confine the incident to the single property. Trinity County deputies arrived at the scene and observed evidence of a large tetrahydrocannabinol (THC) extraction lab as the possible source of the explosions.
Investigators from the Sheriff’s Office and Trinity County District Attorney’s Office responded and obtained a search warrant for the property. During the search, investigators found evidence confirming a large THC extraction lab had burned in the fire. Numerous items of evidence related to the crime were found on the property and subsequently documented, and over 400 pounds of flammable liquid chemicals and a large quantity of concentrated cannabis were seized. Inspectors from Trinity County Environmental Health and the Building Department assisted in the identification of the hazardous chemicals and inspected the remaining structures on site.
The suspected residents fled the area prior to the first responder’s arrival and evidence at the scene indicates small children may have been living at the property. Several structures on the property were severely damaged.
