FORT BRAGG, CA — A Fort Bragg man was arrested on weapons charges after allegedly shooting at his roommate.
According to a press release by the Mendocino County Sheriff’s Office, deputies responded to a report of a shooting on the night of Thursday, May 22, on the 17000 block of North Highway 1 in Fort Bragg.
Authorities say that the victim reported that he believed he had been shot at by his roommate, whom authorities have identified as Saysomone Manyphone, 39, also of Fort Bragg.
Upon arrival, deputies contacted the victim outside the residence and confirmed he was uninjured. The victim was reportedly unsure if Manyphone was still inside. Deputies announced their presence several times but received no response.
The deputies reportedly observed that Manyphone’s vehicle was no longer at the location, and did not locate him during an initial search. After finding evidence that a firearm had indeed been discharged inside the residence, deputies obtained a search warrant.
Deputies ultimately developed probable cause to believe that a violent assault with a firearm had occurred, and identified Manyphone as the primary suspect.
Deputies continued the investigation into the early morning hours of Friday, May 23, finding the incident to be isolated and that there was no ongoing threat to the public.
On the night of May 23, police in Fort Bragg received information regarding Manyphone’s location. Officers reportedly detained him on the 300 block of North Main Street.
Sheriff’s deputies responded and arrested Manyphone on suspicion of assault with a firearm and use of a firearm during the commission of a felony. He was booked into the Mendocino County jail and is being held on $100,000 bail.
