Mother’s Day Shooting Investigation in North San Juan:  Arrest Made

NORTH SAN JUAN, CA  —   “5/21/2025  – Nevada County Sheriff’s Office (NCSO) Special Enforcement Detail (SED), Critical Incident Negotiations Team (CINT), and Tactical Dispatch Team responded to the 15000 block of Tyler Foote Crossing Road in North San Juan this morning, May 21, 2025, just before 9:00 a.m. to serve an arrest warrant stemming from a recent Mother’s Day shooting and assault that left one victim seriously injured.

NCSO SED team members, patrol deputies and detectives, aided by the Placer County Sheriff’s Office, the North San Juan Fire Department, the California Highway Patrol and Sierra Nevada Ambulance participated in the operation. Deputies safely took 52-year-old Clay Leffew into custody without incident for Attempted Murder, Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon, Aggravated Assault with a Firearm, Possession of a Firearm by a Prohibited Person, and Discharge of a Firearm in the Commission of a Felony.

Leffew was booked into the Wayne Brown Correctional Facility on the aforementioned charges, without bail. The investigation into the incident is continuing.”
