“Khaki Bandit” Targets El Dorado Savings Bank

SOUTH COUNTY — On May 9th at around 1 PM, the Nevada County Sheriff’s Office arrived at the El Dorado Savings Bank on Combie Road after a report of a robbery in progress.

A lone suspect — described as a white male in his 30s wearing dark sunglasses, a beanie, and dark clothing — had apparently entered the bank brandishing a black handgun. He later fled on foot toward a nearby residential neighborhood with an undisclosed amount of cash. Officers believe a getaway vehicle may have been waiting.

Detectives collected evidence and statements from witnesses, as well as reviewing surveillance footage from inside the bank. The suspect is believed to be the “Khaki Bandit,” who’s gained a reputation for numerous other bank robberies throughout the north state.

The FBI is currently offering a $20,000 reward for information leading to his arrest.

Anyone with information regarding the robbery or the suspect is encouraged to contact the Nevada County Sheriff’s Office Major Crimes Unit at (530) 265 – 1263.
