Bicyclist Fatally Struck by Unknown Vehicle in Stockton; CHP Investigating

STOCKTON, CA — Authorities in San Joaquin County are investigating the hit-and-run death of a bicyclist earlier this week.

According to a press release by the California Highway Patrol, a 56-year-old man riding a bicycle along eastbound Jahant Road, east of East Frontage Road, was struck by an unknown motorist in the early morning hours of Monday, May 5.

The force of the strike, which came from behind, reportedly ejected the man from his bicycle and into an irrigation ditch south of Jahant Road. The man succumbed to his injuries at the scene, authorities said.

The driver of the suspect vehicle fled the scene. So far, no description of the suspect or vehicle has been released.
