Man Arrested for Vehicular Assault in Fillmore

FILLMORE, CA  ––  April 29, 2025 – One man is in custody following his arrested of reportedly ramming his vehicle into an occupied car.

At approximately 9:48 p.m. on April 24, Ventura County Sheriff’s Department deputies from the Fillmore Patrol Station responded to reports of an assault with a deadly weapon (a vehicle). When deputies arrived, it was determined that Geovanny M. Protillo, 26, had intentionally rammed his vehicle into another occupied by two adults and two children before
fleeing the scene.No serious injuries were reported.

Portillo was on probation for domestic violence convictions with an outstanding arrest warrant from
another county. He was listed as the restrained party in an active domestic violence restraining
order. The victim of Portillo’s vehicular attack was one of the named protected individuals in that
court order.

As the search for Portillo began, Detectives from the Fillmore Bureau of Investigation and West
County Special Enforcement Unit were called in to assist with the search.

According to VCSD spokesman Sgt. Jarrod Foote, almost 24 hours later at 7:40 p.m. on April 25, detectives “located
Molina Portillo riding in a vehicle driven by an uninvolved party” in the city of Santa Paula.

Deputies conducted a traffic stop and arrested him without incident.

Molina Portillo was booked into the Ventura County Jail on multiple charges including robbery,
and four counts of assault with a deadly weapon.
