Hanford Man Arrested for Allegedly Sexually Harassing Two Women in Public Parking Lot

HANFORD, CA — A Kings County man was arrested early this month for allegedly sexually harassing two women in a public parking lot.
According to a press release by the Kings County Sheriff’s Office, deputies responded on the evening of Wednesday, April 9, to a report of criminal threats at the Kings County Government Center.
Deputies arrived and met with two women near the Agricultural Commissioner’s Office parking lot. The women reported that an unknown man had approached them and made aggressive and sexually explicit remarks.
The suspect allegedly continued making inappropriate comments as the women attempted to enter their vehicles. When both victims were safe in their vehicles, the suspect reportedly left the area.
Deputies conducted a search of the surrounding area and located the suspect near the Lacey Medical Complex. He was detained without incident.
Authorities identified the suspect as Anthony Lee Maldonado, 40, of Hanford.
A records check revealed that Maldonado was on active parole for assault with a deadly weapon. Deputies also determined he was under the influence of a controlled substance at the time of the incident, the sheriff’s office said.
Maldonado was arrested on suspicion of making felony criminal threats. His parole officer reportedly also authorized a parole hold, making him ineligible for bail.
