Madera County Authorities Reportedly Discover Illegal Dispensary, Two Arrested

CHOWCHILLA, CA — Authorities in Madera County have reportedly arrested two people after discovering an illegal cannabis dispensary near a local high school.

According to a press release by the Madera County Sheriff’s Office, on Wednesday, April 2, deputies responded to a report of shots fired in the area of Avenue 24 and Road 26 in Chowchilla.

Following the initial report, Chowchilla police reportedly located a suspect vehicle, and the occupants were detained. During the detention, officers allegedly found a firearm on one of the suspects that was not registered to them.

The Madera County Sheriff’s Office Special Enforcement Team, also known as MADSET, took over the investigation. While serving several search warrants at the suspects’ residences, deputies discovered an illegal marijuana cartridge dispensary operating near Chowchilla High School.

Deputies seized more than 8,000 marijuana cartridges, with an estimated street value of over $320,000. Three firearms and additional evidence of narcotics sales were also recovered.

A 34-year-old male from Madera and a 31-year-old male from Chowchilla were arrested on charges related to the case, the sheriff’s office said.
