WALNUT CREEK, CA — Ronald T. Lane, 54, of Livermore, has been arrested and remains in custody in
lieu of $50,000 bond.
Lane allegedly committed a bank robbery in downtown Walnut Creek. Officers
placed Lane under arrest on April 24, a little more than an hour after the bank robbery.
Shortly before 12:30 p.m., Lane allegedly walked into Chase Bank at South Main Street and Newell
Avenue. He reportedly handed a bank teller a note demanding money, before fleeing with an
undisclosed amount of cash.
“No weapon was used in commission of the crime,” Walnut Creek police said in a prepared statement.
“The suspect fled in a vehicle after receiving money from a teller.”
Officers searching the vicinity spotted the suspected getaway vehicle, traveling along Olympic
Boulevard. The vehicle was pulled over in a traffic stop, without further incident. Officers quickly
identified Lane as the robbery suspect.
Lane was arrested at 1:49 p.m. The stolen money from the bank was found inside his vehicle and
recovered. Lane was booked on suspicion of robbery, before he was transferred to the West County
Detention Facility in Richmond.
Walnut Creek police credit bank employees for providing detailed information that helped officers
quickly locate and apprehend the suspect.
The police investigations bureau is preparing a case to submit to the Contra County District Attorney’s Office for review. Anyone with information concerning
