Two Arrested in Del Norte County for Alleged Possession of Fentanyl, Methamphetamine for Sales
SMITH RIVER, CA — “On 04/02/2025 at about 2304 hours, Deputies patrolling the Smith River area observed a suspicious vehicle parked in the area of S Indian Road near the How-On-Quet Cemetery. Deputies contacted 31 year old Haley Abbott and 33 year old Joshua Toomey both from Brookings, Oregon.
While contacting both subjects, deputies gathered probable cause to search the vehicle. During a search of the vehicle deputies located a loaded .22 revolver, 35.1 grams of suspected fentanyl (1.2 ounces), suspected methamphetamine, a scale, and packaging materials.
Abbott was taken into custody for PC 25850(a)-carrying a loaded firearm in a vehicle. Toomey was taken into custody for HS 11351-possession of controlled substances for sales, and HS 11352- transport controlled substances.”
