Crescent City man arrested on suspicion of child endangerment

“On 6-17-20222 at about 0830 hours, Crescent City Police Officers responded to the Big 5 parking lot after a two year old child was found alone in the parking lot.
CCPD Officer Valero was initially unable to locate a parent of the child and the child was placed in protective custody with Child Welfare Service. Officer Valero then located an apartment in the 1000 block of Highway 101 with an open door and made contact with a subject inside the residence. Officer Valero was initially told that no child was missing from the residence.
Officer’s then searched the area and contacted numerous residences before coming back to the residence and contacting Cody Miller (age 19). While talking with Miller he stated he did not realize his child was missing because he was under the influence of marijuana.
After an investigation was completed, Miller was arrested for 273 A PC, Child Endangerment, and 11361 (B) HS, Furnishing Marijuana to a Minor. Miller was then booked into to the Del Norte County Jail.”
