Del Norte County Sheriff’s Office issues update on recent officer-involved shooting

“On August 25, 2021, at approximately 2:45 p.m., Crescent City California Highway Patrol (CHP) officers and Del Norte County Sheriff’s Department (DNCSO) deputies responded to the scene of a disabled vehicle that was blocking the roadway at Parkway Drive and Sherwood Lane in Crescent City, CA.
Upon their arrival, they located a male subject holding a knife and walking in the traffic lanes. The male subject advanced toward the officers and an officer-involved shooting occurred. The subject died as a result of the incident. There were no injuries to CHP or DNCSO personnel.
The CHP Northern Division Critical Incident Investigation Team and Multidisciplinary Accident Investigation Team personnel are handling the investigation. Any witnesses should contact CHP.
