Man arrested on suspicion of setting fire in liquor store parking lot

“At 0550 hours on 5-8-2020 Crescent City Fire and Rescue was dispatched to the area of Y-Liquors for a report of a fire in the parking lot area. The Fire Department was able to quickly extinguish the fire.

Crescent City Police Department Officer Pearson responded to the incident and was able to determine that the fire was set intentionally. Through video footage Officer Pearson was able to identify the suspect as Steven Thompson (age 44).

At about 0930 hours Officer Pearson located Thompson in the area of Home Depot. Thompson was interviewed and arrested for 451 PC, Arson. Thompson is being held in custody at the Del Norte County Jail.

The case is still under investigation and will be forwarded to the Del Norte County District Attorney for review.”
