Transient Man Arrested with Loaded Firearms After Fleeing Traffic Stop in Santa Rosa

SAN LUIS OBISPO, CA  —  “Early Thursday morning (3/27), Officer J. Ares attempted to stop a male on a bike for a traffic code violation near the car wash on Santa Rosa Street. The man did not stop, started riding faster, then dropped the bike and ran across Santa Rosa. Ofc. Ares caught up to the suspect, later identified as Seth Underwood, age 42 and transient, near Mr. Pickles and took him into custody.

During a search of Underwood, two loaded handguns and loose ammunition were located in his backpack, and he had an felony no-bail warrant related to controlled substances out of Tulare County. Underwood is a convicted felon, and one of the guns was a non-serialized “ghost gun”. The second gun was found to be registered to someone else.

Underwood was arrested for the following: felon in possession of a firearm, carrying a concealed firearm, carrying a loaded firearm, possession of a non-serialized firearm, carrying a loaded firearm while not being the registered owner, felon in possession of ammunition, and last but not least, resisting a peace officer. As the warrant for his arrest is “no bail”, Underwood will not be released from custody.”
