Valley High School Student Reportedly Arrested for Hoaxed Threats

SACRAMENTO, CA  — “On February 7, 2025, a Valley High School student provided staff with a digital file of a chat she stated was between her and another user. The chat included threats from the other user, getting a gun, and shooting the school on a specific date. The chat also contained threats toward several students and staff.

The student refused to identify the other user in the chat and initially refused to talk with law enforcement. Deputies could not identify the other user after speaking to approximately 30 witnesses and victims. The Sheriff’s Threat Management Unit and Hi-Tech Crimes unit were notified and provided extensive support throughout the investigation.

On Monday, February 10, the student and her parents decided to speak with law enforcement. She identified the other user as another student from a high school in Georgia, but Deputies quickly determined they were not involved. Deputies learned that the Valley High School student actually created the other username account the day the conversation started; and “chatted” with herself as if two different people.

This afternoon, that student was arrested for criminal threats and false report of an emergency. She was transported to Juvenile Hall and booked into custody.”
